KITPro Server v0.1.0-alpha.15 was published on October 30, 2026 as a public alpha prerelease. It extends the local-first application manager with native Linux host administration, giving administrators a clearer view of the machine beneath their self-hosted applications.
This is retrospective release coverage. The software's original release date is distinct from this article's publication date. Alpha.15 is evaluation software, not a final production-ready release.
Seeing the host alongside the applications
The unified Administration Dashboard summarizes system health. Host Overview brings together operating-system, kernel, processor, memory, filesystem, and network information. Compact Services and journald Logs interfaces make large administrative datasets easier to inspect without putting unrestricted shell access into the browser.
Storage inventory covers block devices, filesystems, mounts, capacity, and protected resources. Network views expose interfaces, addresses, routes, resolver information, traffic, and diagnostics. These views complement the existing digest-pinned application catalog, Docker lifecycle management, persistent storage, controlled exposure, managed ingress, HTTPS, backup, and recovery workflows.
Deliberately bounded administrative actions
Alpha.15 supports curated service actions with dependency protection, scoped administrator permissions, exact confirmations, operation history, and auditing. Protected, unknown, ambiguous, and incompletely analyzed units remain read-only. Journal access is disabled by default and requires operating-system permissions even when enabled.
Storage changes require a root-owned policy that names the exact approved resources. Qualified mount and unmount operations used disposable tmpfs and UUID-backed loopback filesystems. That evidence does not establish safety for arbitrary physical disks, formatting, resizing, RAID, LVM, ZFS, forced unmounts, or editing /etc/fstab.
Persistent mounts use KITPro-owned systemd mount units with UUID validation, recovery records, and missing-device boot protection. Existing administrator-managed mount configuration is not adopted or rewritten.
Transactional IPv4 configuration is limited to exact policy-approved systemd-networkd resources. It arms an independent rollback timer and requires confirmation. Primary management interfaces remain protected. NetworkManager, Netplan, IPv6 changes, bridges, bonds, VLANs, VPNs, firewall changes, arbitrary routes, and Docker networking are outside the mutation scope.
The web API remains unprivileged. Approved changes pass through the typed helper, which independently verifies its Unix peer, permissions, policy, identity, current host state, and confirmation. Unknown identity or recovery state fails closed.
Platform support and upgrades
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS amd64 and KITPro Linux Server generation 1.0-g0002 have installed-service qualification for Host Administration. Debian 13 amd64 and supported Arch-family x86_64 systems have package and provider support. Rocky Linux 10 with Podman 5 and SELinux remains Experimental; complete installed Host Administration qualification is not established there.
Use the package and upgrade wrapper for the host distribution. Review the documented Docker or Podman, Nginx, systemd, and platform-security prerequisites first. Download the release checksum file and verify the selected package before installation. The release manifest records source identity, build metadata, artifact inventory, the CycloneDX SBOM, and SHA-256 values. Checksums are integrity evidence; these public alpha assets must not be described as production-key-signed packages.
Debian and Arch upgrade gates preserve configuration and administrator state, verify ownership and schema transitions, and create pre-upgrade backups. Package downgrade after a schema migration is unsupported. Recovery uses the verified backup or an independently managed guest snapshot. KITPro Linux additionally requires the separately controlled production-signed immutable dependency generation; publishing the GitHub prerelease does not advance that repository.
Product naming
This release ships under the KITPro Server name. Development toward KITPro Console is a separate naming transition. It does not change the identity of these public alpha.15 packages or turn the application into the KITPro Linux Server operating system.
